Ride
03:13
|
|||
I'm on my way there
But so impatient
For five long hours
My stomach sours
Will I see him there
In his Mercedes Benz
Alive, no not dead
Smoking
Smile on his head
I still have your directions
Giving me every exit
You said your time was limited
But I didn't understand what you meant
Can I go to Chicago
Will you be there
Showing no fear
Can I go to Chicago

Avec Muscles
07:13
|
|||
There’s something in my pocket
So often out of reach
As though it waits for someone
To fall and scrape a knee
Or for some combinations
A hit from either side
I’ll question why it happens
For the entire ride
But I’ll cave and I’ll accept it
I’ll wear your autograph
So I can show some muscle
So I can shine at last.
I know there’s no replacement
No second time around
This cage is filled with stooges
But it won’t keep me down
I’m not as strong when there’s nothing wrong
Your terms are inelastic
You push back twice as hard
I feign my acquiescence
As though I drive the car
I’ll plea for other options
Ask must it be this way
Then I’ll consent, embrace it
And face another day.
Ok then these are your terms
They happen too be mine
This play is thick with puppets
But it won’t tax my mind
And away we go
Flood the summer and hide the sun
Just when we thought we’d finally won
Take away our breath just when we learn to breath
But I guess you warned us, there’ll be no relief
All the way
the entire way
All that you say you love
Is all you have at arms
All that I say I love
Keeps me from falling apart
All that you say you love
Is all you have at arms.
All that I say I love
Falls apart
But I found your nemesis
I found your fatal flaw
Although you hit me hard
I am not as strong
when there’s nothing wrong

Refuge
03:31
|
|||
So completely wrong
Or maybe just too long
Gone
So how can you still be fighting
Or maybe
Not at all
I hear you keep saying how your life turned out
I see you doing nothing now you're without
And if you ask me I'd say that your excuse
Is that you choose nothing but a warm refuge
Not quite accurate
To say that you aren't right
Though could it really be that
You're missing most of all
I hear you keep saying how your life turned out
I see you doing nothing now you're without
And if you ask me I'd say that your excuse
Is that you choose nothing but a warm refuge
Not at all

Fine Days
04:28
|
|||
It's obvious I want to fly
Far away out in the blue
I'm full of all this gravity
Seems to me my time is soon
And you worry I won't be around
I can't believe I still want more
Honestly I want it all
My bottomless needs are hard to fill
If I could live twice more I would
And you worry I won't be around
Fine days are okay
But I still want to go
Why
One is not enough
By my side
No way
I'll say
If I should settle down
I've given enough to get by
One for me and two for you
But it always seems to be a chore
All this weight
I must get loose
Fine days are okay
But I still want to go
Why
One is not enough
By my side
No way
I'll say
If I should settle down

Ah Hah
03:07
|
|||
On any given day
They'll tell you you need something
That will only take away
Everyday at your front door
Is a smiling face hiding a predator
Ah hah
What makes them feel alive
Is what makes you bleed
Beautiful dependency
Never want you to die
They'll save your beating heart
To go right back to the start
Ah hah
Let's engineer our mother
Keep water from our brothers
Point the finger when it hits the fan
Let's make them suffer
Blame one another
Sell them the poison hide the cure
Ah hah
Your generosity
Is just a bill of goods
Clear cutting all that's good
And as you step on me
I'm stepping on the ones
Deserving of this song
Ah hah

By Now
03:48
|
|||
And you say that's all when you know you saw
And though they sold they still don't know
Though you came along you were all gone
Oh you think they'd know
By now
How to live
And give up this
Entitlement
To acknowledgment
So you set the stage in a welcome way
Though your burns had not healed
Though you sacrificed, it would not suffice
Oh you hoped they'd learn
By now
How to live
And give up this
Entitlement
